Although we only started taking part last year, our participation in the Herzlauf (Heart Run) already feels like a tradition to us. While last year a total of seven runners joined the race for AMOMED, word got around quickly how much we enjoyed taking part in this race for a good cause. As a result, 17 runners participated this year on May 9, 2019.
What’s Behind the Herzlauf?
The Heart Run seeks to raise awareness about heart diseases, preventing cardiovascular diseases and motivating people to get moving – issues that are also of importance to us at AMOMED Pharma. The options of 3 km, 6 km, 9 km and Nordic Walking allow beginners as well as advanced and professional runners to participate. The lush green Danube Park along the Alte Donau offers a beautiful and scenic setting, making it fun to run and it also feels good!
But we don’t just run for our own well-being. The Heart Run, which takes place in several locations throughout Austria benefits the organization Herzkinder Österreich with the theme “Take good care of your heart and run for mine!” The non-profit organization, which was founded in 2006 – which happens to be the same year that AMOMED opened its doors – supports parents in Austria who have children with heart disease or were born with heart defects. According to Herzkinder Österreich, one in every 100 children is born with a heart defect and this organization serves as a resource for parents offering non-medical advice and facilitates the exchange between affected parents and to get to know each other at joint activities.
